The distillery was established in 1775 and is located within Frankfort, Kentucky, Buffalo Trace is among only a handful of American distilleries to continue its operation until Prohibition following the receipt of permission for the bottling of medicinal whisky at the time Prohibition was in effect. 18th Amendment came into effect in 1920.
